When Bhunte was near a forest camp, he met a rescued and reintroduced Maili. Before she used to work as a temple elephant. She told Bhunte how tough it was for her to survive amidst humans, tolerating all restrictions! She had developed a stereotypic behavior of nodding her head and moving back-and-forth. To which people, who came to take a forced-blessing from her, thought that she was happy and hence, dancing in front of God! She was chained all day long, she stood in scorching heat without moving a single inch and was made to eat rice balls which were not her wild diets! She is now suffering from PTSD (Post-traumatic Stress Disorder)-like condition of being separated from her native herd. Bhunte feels very insecure these days, as he too is growing and growing as an elephant with “tusks”. He consoled Maili and quickly left the camp.
