Bhunte: The baby elephant

Bhunte heard a story of his distant relatives in Sri Lanka. ‘Hakka Pattas’, a local explosive planted in a food/fruit/vegetable to hunt animals, have been killing cattle and elephants, torturously. His distant relative, Shyima, too got trapped when she consumed a pumpkin. The explosive, inside that pumpkin, exploded in her mouth, blowing her trunk and mouth-parts as smithereens into the air. She did not die instantly. She died a painful death- of not being able to eat, drink and breath for a week and getting a severe infection. Bhunte wished no elephants to die such agonizing death! He is very careful these days if he comes across any food items on his trail…
