It has been quite some time since Bhunte and Sanu last ventured into the forest and made new acquaintances. Recently, Bhunte heard a distressing tale about his friend, Boon-mee, a young elephant residing in the forests of Thailand. During a heavy downpour, Boon-mee accidentally slipped into a pit and was unable to extricate himself. Despite his mother’s best efforts to rescue him, she was unable to do so.

Boon-mee’s trumpets caught the attention of nearby humans, who quickly alerted the rescue team. However, extracting Boon-mee from the pit proved challenging as his mother refused to leave his side. The team resorted to tranquillizing her, but unfortunately, she fell into the pit while unconscious. Bhunte was deeply moved by the sight of Boon-mee instinctively suckling from his motionless and unconscious mother, who was likely just as hungry, frightened, and exhausted.

The rescuers were very scared to see Boon-mee’s mother’s condition and brought a huge pulling machine (a crane vehicle) to pull her out.

She had injured her head and her heart was faintly beating. They were frightened that they might lose her and they immediately performed CPR. A first CPR to a wild elephant! They somehow managed to bring back her consciousness. And Boon-mee was also out of the pit.

Upon regaining consciousness, she was relieved to find Boon-mee by her side. Grasping onto his trunk, she swiftly made her way into the nearby forest. Bhunte and Sanu express their gratitude towards the forest officials of Khao Yai National Park, the rescuers, and the veterinarians who made the conscious decision to save Boon-mee’s mother through CPR. The rescue team joyfully watched as Boon-mee and his mother disappeared into the depths of the forest.
