It was drizzling. Pendulous waterdrops on leaves bungee jumped on the forest floor. One of the drops directly landed on Bhunte’s head, who was hiding behind the bushes, after he heard some footsteps on the wet grasses. He sensed a purpose behind the silent parade of uniformed humans through his and his relatives’ trail. Their non-tortuous movement hinted at something. Bhunte pulled out his trunk to sniff. Strange! He could catch a clue of some familiar smell! It was Polivu! Polivu, a baby girl elephant, was injured and got separated from her herd. Bhunte knows Polivu. Both of them are good friends. These uniformed folks cured Polivu and were silently marching into the woods to leave her with his family. Bhunte thought…Our Polivu is no less than these kind-hearted humans. She too is obedient and she is silently following their footsteps, even after she slipped a bit. She knows that they are guiding her back to the forest, to her mom. While Polivu gamboled behind one of the forest guards, and Bhunte was stretching his trunk to catch more clues, another big drop of water landed on Bhunte’s forehead. Bhunte stared up with a fit of anger to find an Indian Roller flying by. He understood it was not a drop he thought of! By then, he missed Polivu as she was already inside the dense thickets…

Bhunte thanks all the forest officials for this act of kindness…
